A: I'm not going for gaiden chapters, because I think the gaiden chapters in this game are pretty boring. So I'm not going to intentionally sacrifice my characters or apply a special patch to reach them. However, I will leave units I don't care about to die if it has a strategic purpose, and if I end up going to gaiden chapters as a result, then so be it.
