📊 INCIDENT DETAILS
🔥 A vehicle fire has closed the A3 northbound between the A3(M) junction at Horndean and the A272 at Petersfield in Hampshire. 🚧 The northbound carriageway remains closed while emergency services deal with the blaze on the Petersfield bypass — the incident has now been ongoing for nearly an hour. ⏰ This is a key section of the London to Portsmouth trunk route through the South Downs. 🚗 Drivers heading northbound towards Guildford, the M25 and London should leave at the A3(M) and use the A272 through Petersfield to rejoin the A3 at the A272 north junction, or divert via the A272 westbound to the A32 and A31. 🚛 HGV and freight traffic heading north from Portsmouth should plan ahead — the A272 diversions pass through narrow South Downs villages and are not ideal for larger vehicles. Allow significant extra time.
