WHAT KIND OF POP-UP GREEN SCREEN | COLD TONE OR BRIGHT MATTE

In this video I'll look at two popular styles of pop-up green screens; cold tone (dark), and bright matte.

If you are just starting out, go for a normal, brighter style pop-up green screen. The problem with the darker cold tone is the fabric. The nylon style fabric does not absorb light like a muslin fabric does. You will also have more issues with creases and wrinkles.

The muslin fabric pop-up green screens do cost more, but for the majority of people, they will work better and be easier to light, and then key in post.

Look for pop-up green screens that specify muslin fabric and a matte finish. Also, look at any pictures before you buy. If the fabric looks very wrinkled or creased, it's probably nylon. A real muslin fabric will not have wrinkles or creases when stretched. This is true for any color pop-up backdrop you want.

While the cold tone has its uses, most people will benefit most from a brighter backdrop. That's true for photography and video.
