Jane Goodall visits the Houston Zoo's chimpanzees

http://www.houstonzoo.org
Dr. Jane Goodall visited the Houston Zoo on October 30, 2010. Dr. Goodall toured The African Forest, the Zoo's newest addition that opens to the public on Dec. 10. She saw the Zoo's new chimpanzee exhibit and the Zoo's 10 chimps.

The Houston Zoo acknowledges the important wildlife conservation efforts of the Jane Goodall Institute, especially with threatened chimpanzees and gorillas in Africa's Congo Forest Wilderness. Since 2004, annual support has been given to the Tchimpounga Sanctuary in the Republic of Congo, the largest on the African continent. Congolese authorities deliver young chimpanzees to the sanctuary after confiscating them from hunters who try to sell them.

The Houston Zoo is offering a once in a lifetime trip to visit the Chimpanzees of Gombe and Wildlife of Selous Reserve with the Houston Zoo July 2nd-July 9th, 2011.
This trip has it all! In just ten days we will spend time in Gombe National Park watching the exact same Chimpanzees that Jane Goodall has studied for over 50 years. We will see Africa as David Livingstone first experienced Africa, with a few days in the incredible and remote Selous -- home to African Wild Dogs, Leopards, Lions and so much more. We end with a few days of relaxation on the private Chapwani Island, just a short distance offshore of Stone Town on the magical spice island of Zanzibar. Trip is limted to a maximum of 12 participants. Full itinerary can be found at http://www.houstonzoo.org/chimps-of-gombe-and-wildlife-of-selous/
