The Canadian NDP just experienced a generational glowdown. Seven seats. No official party status.

While the working class suffocated under a housing crisis, the party was lost in the sauce of a "virtual island." For years, the NDP has been run like a millennial HR department, focusing on vibes and decorum while the Right spoke directly to people’s anger.

It is time to stop leading with the "broccoli" of tax policy and start leading with the "cupcake."

Following the blueprint of Zohran Mamdani in NYC, we need Materialist Populism: Rent freezes, free transit, and public grocery stores. Sell the vision first. If you give people a choice between a Conservative and a "diet-Conservative" NDP, they will pick the real thing every single time.

Avi Lewis is taking the lead, but a leader is not enough. We need ideological tissue—in NYC, this was tenant unions and labor caucuses that existed outside the party.

The era of politeness is over. It is time to get material.
