Bazzar is the 42nd production by Cirque du Soleil.
Created specifically to introduce Cirque to new markets in southeast Asia, Africa, and The Arabian Peninsula, Bazzar offers a stripped-down cirque experience in classic Canadian style. Bazzar is unique for a number of reasons. The production employs a significantly smaller Chapiteau for touring in smaller markets, each of the show's 27 performers only uses a single costume in order to evoke a small traveling troupe of performers, and the choreography incorporates aspects of hip-hop and street dance styles, a stark departure from Cirque du Soleil's usual aesthetic incorporating world and indigenous music and choreography.
While Bazzar may not be the most impressive production from Cirque du Soleil, its intimate style and earnest presentation create a unique experience which harkens back to the earliest days of the company.
