10%: What I learned as an LGBT activist | Nikhil Jain | TEDxYouth@HITECCity
How do you tell someone you're gay when they think gay people don't exist in your country? Perhaps we can start with a number - 1 in 10 people are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender, and this matters to all of us. In this lively talk, Nikhil explains the ideas and the ironies of his story as an LGBT Activist in India.
Nikhil Jain is a high-school student and the Founder of The Global Impact Project (www.facebook.com/TheGlobalImpactProject). His aim is bold but simple: Get everyone to start talking about gender and sexuality, because only our stories can make the 10% of LGBT people an integral part of the 100% we all belong to.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
