Successful management of stress and provision of preventive medicine can dramatically decrease your incidence of upper respiratory disease in the shelter; however, individual cases can still spiral into more serious disease. In this lecture Dr. Elizabeth Berliner of Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell University, reviews how to recognize and diagnose pneumonia, the underlying pathogenesis and pathology, and treatment options.
