Upside-Down Fire Explained | Bushcraft Fire Building Tip

Ever tried building an upside-down fire? 🔥

It’s one of the most efficient ways to burn - especially in a bushcraft setting.

🔥 Efficient Burn: The layered design - big logs at the bottom, small stuff on top - means the fire burns downwards, giving a steady, controlled heat output.
🔥 Longer Burn Time: As the bigger logs ignite from the embers above, you get a long-lasting fire with a solid ember bed.
🔥 Less Maintenance: Once it’s lit, it needs barely any attention. Perfect when you’ve got other things to be doing at camp.

We only built a small one this time since we weren’t staying long - but you can scale it up as big as you like.
