Playing a game about Harry Potter

So I just played Harry Potter Wizards Unite, a GPS exploration game that takes the worldwide phenomenon of Pokémon Go and makes it about Harry Potter. Now, criticism about Harry Potter is always fascinating because while everyone knows it’s okay to make fun of anything added to franchise after the final movie installment, to lay critique on such a beloved franchise either makes you close minded, or a fifty year old Christian parent. While I would’ve preferred a Lord of the Rings Go instead of a Harry Potter Go, I was fairly impressed by the graphics of a game that plays on a mobile phone. I mean, Harry Potter actually looks like Daniel Radcliffe, so much that I thought they got the real Daniel Radcliffe to stand in for a video. My personal favorite moment in the game was me realizing that I didn’t really have to move out of my spot to do stuff. My avatar just started using magic to save people, and we got rewarded with other stuff. In fact, the more I think about it, I didn’t really know what I was collecting in the game. So I felt ultimately no incentive to go anywhere. So I guess it isn’t much of a Harry Potter Go, and more of a Harry Potter Stay. So once I started moving, I realized that doing CG magic on my phone was too much of a hassle, and I just continued walking in my regular muggle world because exercise is good and not looking where you’re going is not. Also, playing with peers had no effect on me playing the game. Have a spectacular day.
