🚫 Prima Nocta NEVER Existed: Who Made It Up? 🤔 #history #myths #middleages

🤔 Did you believe feudal lords had a legal right to peasant brides' virginity? Forget everything you saw in the movies! 🎬❌

👨‍🎓 Historians have proven: "Prima Nocta" (or Droit du seigneur) is a massive fake. In this video, we break down where this myth came from and who benefited from tarnishing the Middle Ages. 👇

Why is it a lie? 4 Ironclad Arguments:

✅ 1. ⚖️ Legal Void

There is not a single law, charter, or decree in the Middle Ages that mentions a lord's right to sex with a bride 📜. Lawyers of that era recorded every little detail, but on this "right"—total silence 🤐.

✅ 2. ⛪ The Wrath of the Church

Back then, the Church was more powerful than kings 💪. Sex outside of marriage was considered a grave sin, and desecrating the sacrament of marriage threatened a feudal lord with excommunication and hellfire 🔥. No lord would risk his soul for one night.

✅ 3. 💰 Money, Not Lust

The myth grew out of a marriage tax (merchet). If a girl got married, her father paid the lord a fee (compensation for losing a worker) 💸. Later, this "payment in money" was mistakenly translated as "payment in body" 🤷‍♂️.

✅ 4. ✍️ 18th Century Black PR

The legend was popularized by writers (like Voltaire 🇫🇷). They needed to show the horrors of feudalism to justify revolution ⚔️. They took a boring tax and twisted it into a wild tale for hype 🎭.
