Neuralink Demo Shows Thought-Controlled Robotic Arms for Paralyzed Patients

Neuralink released a video Thursday of trial participants Jacob Paul and Robert Sutherland using the N1 brain implant to control an Assistive Robotic Arm (ARA) with thoughts alone. They pick up small cups, wooden blocks, and chess pieces with precise, low-latency movements decoded from their motor cortex. The company calls it progress toward restoring independence for people with paralysis, though the investigational devices lack FDA approval and results vary by participant. Elon Musk shared the clip, describing it as telepathic robot arm control.
