How Fatty Liver Develops in Our Body | Causes & Risk Factors Explained
Did you know that fatty liver disease is becoming one of the most common health problems in India and around the world? In this short video, we explain in simple words how fatty liver develops in our body and what the main causes are.
The liver is one of the most important organs in our body. It helps in detoxification, digestion, and energy storage. But when excess fat starts accumulating in liver cells, it leads to a condition known as fatty liver disease. At an early stage, it might not cause symptoms, but if ignored, it can lead to inflammation, liver damage, cirrhosis, or even liver failure.
Here are some main causes of fatty liver:
1. Unhealthy diet – Eating too much junk food, fried foods, sugar, and refined carbs.
2. Obesity & belly fat – Excess fat in the body increases the risk of fat storage in the liver.
3. Alcohol consumption – Drinking alcohol regularly is one of the leading causes of fatty liver.
4. High sugar levels – Diabetes, insulin resistance, and high fructose intake can lead to fat accumulation.
5. Sedentary lifestyle – Lack of physical activity slows down metabolism and fat burning.
6. High cholesterol & triglycerides – Extra fat in the blood gets deposited in the liver.
7. Certain medicines & genetic factors – Some medical conditions and drugs may also contribute.
Fatty liver is also closely linked to metabolic syndrome, heart problems, and obesity-related diseases. The good news is that in most cases, fatty liver can be reversed with lifestyle changes like healthy diet, weight loss, exercise, and avoiding alcohol & excess sugar.
⚠️ Warning signs of fatty liver may include:
Constant tiredness
Pain or heaviness in the right side of the abdomen
Unexplained weight gain or bloating
Poor digestion
If left untreated, fatty liver may silently progress into Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), fibrosis, or liver cirrhosis. That’s why it is very important to understand the causes early and take preventive steps.
👉 In this short, you’ll learn exactly how fatty liver starts in the body and what habits to avoid to protect your liver health.
