Foreigner Tries Martabak For The First Time in Jakarta🇮🇩

Today is our last day in Jakarta, yes I know it’s sad!! However the mission to adventure around Jakarta hasn’t ended just yet as you join us today in Pasar Baru, a market that has been around since 1820.

We have 3 simple missions to achieve: Buy an Indonesia Football Jersey. Buy a traditional Songkok/Peci. Try Martabak for the first time.

So these are the goals and firstly we went to a fake football shop to hunt for the t-shirt. We ended up finding it and Pablo bought it for 150K IDR. Was this worth it from the original asking price of 200K IDR, we think this was overpriced.

After this, we entered an unknown indoor market that we just stumbled on and inside we found a store selling the muslim headwear called a Peci. Pablo bought this at a labelled price of 85K IDR. Again tell us if this is worth it?

With the fake jersey on and the Songkok on Pablo’s head, we roamed the streets in search of the famous Martabak street food. In this time, ALOT of locals talked to us and joked about the Peci on Pablo’s head and we had a very good time interacting with the locals of Jakarta.

Eventually we found the street food after a quick stop for some orange juice where we tipped the hard working man 10K IDR. This street food ended up costing us 100K IDR or $6 USD and came in a massive tray!!! We didn’t expect to receive this much and just wanted a small portion to try. Pablo loved it and Teigan not as much. Pablo will have this for breakfast lunch and dinner lol.

Tell us if all the prices we paid during the video are local prices or overpaying because we are foreigners…
