Dumb Money : Cast Experience

Dumb Money brings us an incredible true story about Game Stop and the power that regular people hold when it comes to determining value. The plot of this movie took place during the Pandemic – that’s also when the idea to make it into a movie was born as well. This was one of the fastest greenlit ideas in Hollywood history. Coming up with the idea for the movie, getting their hands on the intellectual property, and getting everyone on board to make it only took three days. The way it was shot was also super interesting – the actors were pretty much by themselves on set for an entire week. It felt like everyone was the star of their own little movie and even tricked the actors into thinking that everything was happening simultaneously. There was also a ton of inspiration from the real people that the actors were able to pull from. Paul Dano honed in on how authentic and honest Keith Gill was in his portrayal of his character, and Shailene Woodley finds this role to be extremely ironic because she’s studied so much about finance and investing and can’t comprehend any of it in her real life. There’s also so much truth behind the writing of this movie – there are many things that were taken straight from real life and put right into the script. For example, Seth Rogen’s character actually did buy two mansions side by side in Miami and tear one down to make a tennis court for his family. Can you imagine? Maybe Dumb Money can help us all out!
