Avoid this XL6009 Buck-Boost Converter: EMI Nightmare #electronics #electrical

This XL6009 Buck-Boost Converter, doesn't belong in your electronics project, it belongs in the trash. Unless you actually enjoy conducted emissions and mysterious EMC problems. In a proper CISPR 25-compliant conducted-emissions test, this converter exceeds the limits at multiple frequencies, even under Class 1, the least stringent category defined by the standard. And that's at just one amp of output current.

By now, I already know what the comments will say: "Just add ferrites to the supply lines." That's bad advice. Repeat the test with a ferrite core over the input lines, and the result barely changes. The emissions are still well above the limit, and the improvement is effectively negligible.

If a converter fails this badly, you don't fix it with ferrites, shielding, or wishful thinking. You fix it by not using it at all.
