The Trooper 30 opens in a clam shell fashion with a one handed opening/closing clasp. it does take a few times of opening and closing the cooler to understand how to properly use the compound latch system; nonetheless it does work with one hand. We liked this style of opening compared to a very narrow opening as seen on the Yeti Hopper and others. The entire cooler can be easily access via the large opening.

The Trooper 30 offers multiple carry styles including a shoulder strap or a backpack carrying option. Although this is one of the more expensive soft sided coolers we have reviewed, it is one of the most robust coolers. The Otterbox also is backed up with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
