Seiko divers watches from 1959 to 1979: Cronos Seahorse to 6306-7001

A short history of the Seiko dive watch from 1959 and the release of Seiko's first water proof watch, the Seiko Cronos Seahorse through to the classic Seiko 6306-7001 150m iso-rated diver's watch of the late 1970's. On the way, we encounter the Seikomatic SilverWave 50 Proof, a stepping stone from water proof sports watches to fully fledged dive watch, the celebrated Seiko 62MAS and a special high-beat Seiko 6105-8001 fitted with a Grand Seiko movement.
