Black Soldier Fly research tackles wasted food

Could flies be the solution to our plastic problem? Researchers at Southern Cross University are investigating how black soldier fly farms can divert organic food waste from landfill while creating a bioplastic in the process thus reducing plastic pollution. Researchers Dr Lachlan Yee, Professor Nigel Andrew, Dr Owen Hogan and Risa Otake explain how implementing circular economy principles can benefit both businesses and the environment.
