535 - Chitta Chora Yashoda Ke Bal | Baba Sings | Sri Sathya Sai Bhajans

#babasings #bhajan #krishnabhajans

In 1963, when Bhagawan was in Palghat, Kerala, for the first time ‘Chitta Chora Yashoda Ke Bal’ was sung in front of Him.

Swami was so immensely happy listening to this that He hurriedly came down the dais and rushed towards Eradi brothers and literally hugged them tightly. Swami even said, “Why don’t you add an alaap to this bhajan.”

The Eradi brothers have lost count of how many times Swami has asked them to sing this in His presence.

But for them, the crowning moment for this bhajan happened when later Swami Himself started singing this at the end of His discourses.

As ‘Chitta Chora’ He steals your mind away when He sings Chitta Chora Yashoda Ke Bal.

Lyrics:

Chitta Chora Yashoda Ke Bal Navaneeta Chora Gopal
Gopal Gopal Gopal Govardhana dhara Gopal
Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal Govardhana dhara Gopal

Meaning:

O Lord Gopala (Krishna), the beloved Prince of Mother Yashoda, You are the captivator/stealer of the hearts of devotees, their Chitta, the spiritual Heart which is the seat of consciousness. You are the stealer of butter, i. e. hearts of the Gopis (devotees). Chant the name of Gopala, the one who protects the cows or tends the cows as a cowherd. Chant the name of the Govardhanadhara Gopal, who held aloft the mountain Govardhana to protect the villagers against the torrential rain.
