The factors that lead to the birth of social movements across space and time share more common traits than what meets the eye; at the same time, the romanticism that surrounds such events often makes us overlook how complex these factors can be

Emre Hatipoglu is a scholar of political science. He obtained his BA from Bogazici University, his MA from Sabanci University and his Ph. D. from The Pennsylvania State University. His research interests revolve around the question of how domestic institutions shape the behavior of states in the international arena. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at Sabanci University, and teaches theories of war and peace, foreign policy analysis, and political methodology. He is also a co-principal investigator of I-POST. In this project, his team has mapped 6+ million Turkish twitting computer users, and is currently analyzing networking patterns among these users. Emre is an avid listener of Blues, and is currently exploring the music of Lester Young.
