A DAY IN UKRAINE | Apartment & Grocery shopping in KYIV

One day in Ukraine! Earlier this month I had to take a trip to Ukraine for work. After spending two days in a Kyiv apartment, I needed to do some grocery shopping. Ukrainian supermarkets have so many amazing foods! I also give you a mini tour of the Kyiv city apartment. I hope you enjoy this day in my life in Kyiv Ukraine vlog from a perspective of someone who isn’t a tourist.

Food and groceries in Ukraine are a lot cheaper when compared to other countries but there are some cultural differences in the flavours and diet so I show you some of my favourite Ukrainian foods.

I remember living in Ukraine when I was younger so I am still very familiar with life in Kyiv. However, a lot of things have changed (while some haven’t at all). The Ukrainian apartment I used to live in when I was younger was nowhere near as luxurious as this one. In reality, life in Ukraine is still very simple in many parts of the country. Kyiv however, is a rapidly developing city and travelling there again has really opened my eyes to how much it has progressed.

A few travel tips when traveling to Ukraine:
✨It’s Kyiv instead of Kiev. The direct translation from Ukrainian is Kyiv (while Russian is Kiev).

✨When planning your trip to Ukraine I recommend learning Ukrainian instead of Russian. Although almost every Ukrainian is bilingual, Ukraine is an independent country with its own language (Ukrainian). I try my best to only speak Ukrainian (although sometimes I slip up as there are too many languages in my head now haha).

✨Bring dollars for exchange! The Ukrainian Hryvnia is a closed currency which means you may find it difficult to obtain prior to your trip. Dollars is the most widely accepted currency for exchange.
