Reducing Embodied Carbon to Reduce Global Warming
AIA Continuing Education Course based on "THWART CLIMATE CHANGE NOW - Reducing Embodied Carbon Brick by Brick" by Bill Caplan, published by the Environmental Law Institute, 2021. Presented May 10, 2022.
The presentation discusses how architects, designers and engineers can meaningfully reduce new emissions with their next building design, even though user-friendly analytical tools are insufficiently developed. Up-to-date information reveals why immediate reductions of “embodied” emission are needed in the design and construction of new buildings and renovations; the relationship between “embodied” and “operating” emissions; and their respective relationship to global warming.
