The Difference Between A Felony And A Misdemeanor - Criminal Defense Attorney Marc J. Victor

Crimes, generally are divided up into two categories, misdemeanors, and felonies. In Arizona, both misdemeanor crimes and felony crimes are sub-divided. Misdemeanors range from 1 to 3 and Felonies range from 1 to 6. The lower the number, the more severe the charge. For example, a Class One Felony would be the most severe. Across the Nation, generally, the question is, "can you spend more than one year in a cage, as a result of being convicted of the crime?" In Arizona, the most time you could send in a cage on a misdemeanor is six months, and this would be jail time as opposed to prison time.
