Sending thousands of Humans to Mars? How about Jupiter? Or even farther! Introducing The SpaceX Mothership Concept.

"No part is the best part." This is what makes it so tough to approach building a gigantic space ship. The SpaceX Mothership is designed to carry 48 starships full of settlers to far away destinations like Mars, Jupiter, or even farther away planets. During the journey it provides power, radiation protection, artificial gravity, and a physical connection to the community and backup equipment.

While the concept of a Mothership is pretty far fetched and mainly just for entertainment at this point, we believe something like this may actually be built and used one day to transport thousdands humans through outer space.

We hope that the Mothership inspires humans of all ages, and gets people thinking: "Why Not?" and "Shouldn't we try to make humanity better, and the earth a better place?" Elon Musk looked at the aerospace industry and said, "no one is landing rocket boosters, why not?" We look at the current plans for interplanetary travel and I say "no one is talking about artificial gravity, why not?"

I chose to design the mothership specifically for SpaceX. Firstly because it’s quite literally a Starship carrier. But also because they are clearly the best choice for bringing an out of the box idea to life.

The whole idea of the mothership is that it holds 48 starships inside the two saucers, which means it carries almost 5,000 humans at capacity, ... if each starship accommodates 100 people.

It may surprise you that most of the mothership is empty space. The less massive it is, the less mass the rocket engines have to push against to change velocity. In other words: The bigger the whole thing is, the harder it is to push to another planet, and stop there when it arrives.

Gravity Force: 1G
Tangential velocity is 46.8 meters where the passengers are.
This is about 58 meters per second at the outer edge of the saucer where one would experience 1.2434 G if they climbed down all the way to the edge and were standing on the inside of it.
