Destigmatizing Mental Health | Dr. Anand Nadkarni | TEDxDKTETEI

Mental Health is just as important as Physical Health. But for a very long time, people have regarded this concept with a certain preconceived notion. The notion that this is a bad thing and openly speaking about Mental Health was akin to admitting the fact that you are mentally ill. That, however, could not be further away from the truth.
Dr. Anand Nadkarni aims to destroy this notion once and for all, enabling many to finally comfortably open up about the various issues that people face, even on a Mental Level. Mental Health is just as important as Physical Health, and Dr. Nadkarni aims to achieve this.

He is the person who has taken the concept of Mental Health and made it very commonplace to discuss. He is working in so many diverse settings. He has pioneered ‘Institute for Psychological Health (IPH)”. Dr. Nadkarni is also Founder & Trustee of Muktangan De-addiction Centre in Pune. He has worked extensively in the world of psychology and has spoken extensively in favour of destigmatizing mental illness. He won “Manasa National Award & Hirvai Sanman Puraskar”. He has been awarded with “Thane Nagar Ratna” and “Thane Bhushan” awards from the city of his residence. He has been conferred with “Samaj Shikshak Award” as well as “Arogya Dnyaneshwar” award by prestigious Institutes. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
