What Do I Pack for a Canoe Trip on a Canal System?

This is a detailed behind-the-scenes video which shows all of the items that I brought with me (and why) on my solo canoe trip on the Rideau Canal in August/September 2021. One year earlier I did a very similar trip on the Trent-Severn Waterway where I brought most of the same gear. On both of these trips I primarily camped along the way on the grounds of the lockstations. This type of trip is quite different from a backcountry canoe or kayak trip because each night there is clean drinking water, bathroom facilities, and electricity. There is also access to stores and restaurants along the way. Another aspect which makes these trips unique is that if you purchase a Lock Pass for your canoe/kayak, you won't need to do any portages.

I decided to make this video because it was a subject that I received a lot of questions about when I posted videos from my Trent-Severn Waterway trip. I filmed this in the afternoon of Day 8 of my Rideau Canal trip. This video is by no means a comprehensive guide to packing for a canoe trip. but a good reference point for someone considering this type of trip.
