First things first though, why would you want a Minecraft map wall? Well, with a map wall, you are able to see your world from a top-down view all in one place. This is a great way to see the scale of your builds and what you are working on all in one place. It can even be a really cool feature piece in your house or base.

With that being said, the first step of making a map wall in Minecraft is creating item frames. These will be used to place the maps on the wall. This can be done by using sticks and a piece of leather in a crafting table. You will need an item frame for every map you use, so keep that in mind.

Take these item frames and place them on the wall where you want your Minecraft map wall to be.

Next, you will need to make the maps themselves. Minecraft maps are made up of two parts - paper and a compass. Paper is made from sugar cane, and a compass uses iron ingots and redstone. You then take the paper and put it around a compass in a crafting table to get an empty map. You will need a map for every item frame/block you want to have in your map wall.

Now, we want to take the empty map and with it in our hand, right-click. This will fill the map out. Next, move off of this map and then take another empty map and fill that. Continue this process until you have all of the maps for your map wall filled. It can be best to keep the pervious map and use that as a guide for when you need to make the next map.

Once you have a map, you can right-click on an item frame with it to place it in your map wall. You can right click on the map again with an empty hand in order to rotate the map. This can sometimes be needed in order to make the map wall line up perfectly. It is also very easy to get things mixed up when making map walls, so keep that in mind during the process.

If you want to add a marker to your map wall, you will need to craft a banner using a stick and woold and then name it in a anvil. From there, place the banner down. This can even be done underground and hidden. Take the map the banner is in and right-click on the banner with the map. This will add a marker to the map, and the marker will display on the map wall once you place the map back on the wall.

Lastly, in order to update a map, you will need to take it off the wall and return to that area. It will then automatically update and can be replaced on the wall now fully updated.
