The audio will vary in intensity and focus over time, with different peaks and relaxed moments.

Using modern spatialisation techniques (e.g. binaural panning) we can give sounds a position allowing you to perceive where the sound is coming from in three dimensions surrounding you.

'8D Audio' is just a new term / buzzword to describe a simulated binaural effect, this is actually produced using HRTF filtering.
HRTF is a technology used to emulate positional audio in 3D space by attempting to mimic the acoustics of human hearing. It has been most widely adopted to allow games to portray accurate positional audio.
