Experimental WW1 era Springfield "Flameing Bayonet" device....
Here Tom , Demonstrates an early post WW1 experimental type of Weapon that was use to confuse and disorientated the enemy in close quarters combat ...named " The Flaming Bayonet" ..this is a exact copy of an original......few were made mainly for the Springfield rifle ,, and even fewer for the Enfield (P17) rifles ......this weapon is scarcely mentioned in the Springfield book by brofee..(not sure of the spelling) ...,Basicaly it was an attachment to the bayonet that fired a special large magnesium flash charge designed to disorientated the enemy in attacking trenches...but , trench warefare quickly became outdated and these type of weapons were concidered obsolete and ineffective....so into the pages of history they went....
