We tested 2 Platelet-Rich Plasma samples using Regenlab BCT kit using the exact instructions provided in the kit. Whole blood platelet count is 254,000 per microliter. Our assessment of the Regenlab system is as follows:

Strength:
- Regen BCT 10cc tubes are effective at removing WBC and RBC.
- Easy to Draw Blood
- Easy to use Centrifuge

Weakness:
- The small initial blood sample (10cc) combined with low platelet yield, lack of removal of Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP) and ineffective recommended suspension technique makes it difficult to increase platelet concentration above whole blood/baseline platelet counts.
- Technically not making platelet-rich plasma. Actual concentration much lower than 1.6X PLT concentration being advertised.
- Some floating clotted platelets did not make it into the syringe, likely contributing to low counts.
