After Mr. Joey Javier Reyes and I won the Grand Prize at the 1st ABU-Golden Kite World Song Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1989 for the song "Easy to Love You", GMA7 sent Ms. Ivy Violan and I as Philippine representatives to the 1991 International Midnight Sun Song Festival held in Lahti, Finland where Ivy Violan won the Grand Prize singing Easy To Love You and Chilly Winds. I won the Best Arrangement of a Finnish Song Award for Chilly Winds. We made history there because it was the first time a Filipino musical arranger won a Best Musical Arrangement Award in an international competition. Savor the pride we felt representing the Philippines in international competitions!
