The sub-floor is the base for all the cabinets and appliances in the van conversion. ¾ Inch thickness would be preferable, but weight and height restrictions have led me to use ½ inch ply. A ¼ inch gap along the walls should eliminate any friction and the overlapping dadoes makes for a cohesive bond.
