Native Wild Green Anole Lizard in Kissimme, Florida located in Central Florida This small, delicate Green Anole Lizard was on the pool screen shedding its skin. It is a wild animal and you can observe its stealth as it is being photographed shedding. Handling of this fragile lizard causes it unnecessary stress. It will drop its tail if grabbed. The toes are very easily broken when pulling it from a branch. For its size it has a strong bite. The bite is more dangerous to the Anole by being jerked as the attacked attempts to dislodge the lizard. As a result the jaw can be broken and cause teeth to be ripped out of the Anole's mouth.

The Anole will be a light green on a green background, and brown when on bark or mulch. They also tend to be green above 70 degrees and brown if under 60 degrees.

Males have a Dewlap throat fan they use for attracting females and territorial disputes. Males are bright green during disputes. The battles are not fatal. The defeated male will bow to the victor and turn brown in submission. Breeding season lasts 4-5 months. During which time a female may lay up to ten eggs. Life expectancy is a mere 2 - 3 years.
