The Future is Magic | Anne Scrimshaw | TEDxWolverhampton Women

In her highly entertaining talk Anne discusses or life and career in engineering and why as a woman she is often the only female in the engineering space. She asks us not to assume women aren't interested in engineering, but to look ahead at all the ways engineering is becoming embedded in our lives and future. From our home, workplace, cars, sports field and even our clothes! As she says, the future is magic! Combining a love of engineering, digital technology, art and adventure, Anne brings a creative approach to the world of digital transformation. Its her passion that led to her being a Team Captain and then Judge for Channel 4’s Scrapheap Challenge (where teams are challenged to apply their engineering and technical skills to turn scrap into high tech designs including rockets)
Anne raced hovercraft internationally for 20 years. Which inspired her to complete an Automotive engineering degree. Anne went on to work as an Application Engineer for INA Bearings and a Technical Support Engineer for THK LM Systems, before going to Art college and becoming a freelance Artist, graphic designer and teacher. Anne then merged all her skills to become the manager of the Fab Lab in 2015. Fab Lab is a Maker Space, where you can make almost anything, with 3D printers, CNC machines and robotics This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
