Hey Flower Tribe , I wanted to show you how to plant peony tubers in fall. Fall is the best time to plant your Peony tubers when night time temps drop to 40-50 degrees. It’s best to plant these gorgeous flowers in your fall garden at least 6 weeks before the ground freezes.

When you are looking for the best place in your garden to plant these herbaceous peonies, look for a sunny location that does not get too much wind.

I love planting a variety of different peonies including Sarah Bernhardt peonies, Karl Rosenfield peonies, most white double bomb peonies and Raspberry Sundae peonies. When you tuck these peony tubers into the ground before winter hits, make sure you water them in so they don’t dry out and do not bury them too deep. If you bury them with more then two inches of soil above the eyes, you may get lots of lush green leaves in spring and summer but few beautiful blooms . Peonies also like to have a good air flow between their stems so do not plant them too close to one another or to other shrubs, perrenials, annuals and bushes. Leave a few feet between your peonies and other garden plants.

Beginning gardeners and master gardeners love planting these easy to grow flowers since they require very little maintenance and usually last for decades . Happy growing !
