There are 5 successful active ETF’s that is managed by ARK and Cathie Wood. But how do you know which one you should pick? Or should you pick them all? In this video we will touch on all 5 briefly and I will explain why I ultimately chose the ARK ETF that I did.

The 5 ETFS are:
Ark Innovation
Ark Fintech Innovation
Ark Genomics Revolution
Ark Next Generation Internet
Ark Autonomous Technology & Robotics

The most well-known ETF is the Ark Innovation ETF, ticker symbol ARKK it is without a doubt their most popular ETF and can be found on Robinhood’s top 100 most of the time. It gave a return of 153% in 2020, which is impressive, and focuses on industry disrupting technology. For instance, Tesla, Roku, Teladoc are all major holdings with Tesla being the most weighted at 10%.

ARK Next Generation Internet, Ticker Symbol ARKW. They returned 154% and still most has never heard of it. It was similar in holdings with Tesla and Roku leading the way, Teladoc was in there with Tencent and others, but it’s focus is E-commerce, cloud computing, blockchain, etc. In most of the ETF’s you will see a lot of the same companies, but weighted differently.

ARK autonomous technology & robotics, ticker symbol ARKQ. They returned 124% this past year. Their holdings include, again Tesla leading the way with 12% along with Alphabet or Google Class C.

Now before moving on to ARKF, the Fintech Revolution, , and for the sake of not being redundant, you can see a recurring theme.

When you look at all of the holdings, in each the funds I mentioned you will recognize a lot of them, and some you wont.

Cathie Wood loves her some Tesla, obviously, but a lot of these companies are companies I have some type of relationship with.

Meaning, I use Google every day, I have a Roku, I have Facebook and Instagram, I’ve driven Tesla’s, I use Square all the time, point being, I am able to judge the quality of these companies because I use them.

Which is the very reason I am invested in some of them. I understand some of these companies and consider them to be in my circle of competence.

With that being said, there is an industry I have talked about recently, and that’s the Genomic space. I believe this will be a big part of our future as a society and has the potential to change the world.

However, when I look at the companies in ARKG, I don’t use any of these in my everyday life. And they are most certainly not in my circle of competence. I can’t go buy their product like I can for Tattooed Chef at Wal-Mart to see what all the fuss is about.

Sure, I can look at balance sheets, and financials, but I can’t realistically compare one product against another. No matter how much research I do.

So, I picked ARKG to expose my portfolio to this space. I felt that I was exposing myself to more risk by buying an individual company in this space as opposed to an etf like ARKG. Which is kind of the whole point of ETF’s for a lot of people.

With the other ETF’s I felt like I knew enough about some of those companies and the market, that I had even invested in the individual company.

I couldn’t do that with ARKG. There is no Tesla at the top of that holdings list. I tried to take a very common-sense approach since the industry is so far out of my wheel house.

Plus, ARKG was the best performer out of all of Cathies ETF’s with around 220% return over the past year.

Although some believe the ARKG’s share price is getting too high and can’t be justified, I just can’t believe it considering we’re in the first inning of the genomic space. I see it blowing this price out of the water over the next 5 years easy.
