LAC BLANC FROM CHAMONIX (POPULAR)

Lac Blanc is a glacial formed lake in the mountains of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. People have been coming here for years to see the lake and the astounding views you reach from the lake. We hiked here directly from our apartment in the city of Chamonix. Lac Blanc was supposed to be approximately 13 1/2 miles round trip distance however, after finishing our hike we found it to be 15 1/2 instead. This is a very challenging hike with a little over 5,100 feet of elevation gain. Throughout this hike you will overcome many elements and a load of switchbacks!

Seeing Mont-Blanc during the hike is probably the biggest highlight during our experience. We think this hike is one of the top hikes we did in our month long stay in Chamonix. It was pretty cold at the top so we recommend to anyone taking their day trip here to bring along a jacket or coat, a hat and maybe some gloves, a snack to enjoy while you hang out there and headlamps as a just incase you don’t get down by the time intended.
