Praying For a Sign When Your Losing Faith, Feel Like Giving Up & God Seems Distant

Do you ever feel like God is distant and like he isn't listening? Do you ever feel like giving up?

I know that is like and I want to tell you that is normal and OK and it's OK to ask God to give you a sign.

Did you know that even John the Baptist questioned His faith at one point when he was in prison? He also asked for a sign.He sent his disciples to Jesus to confirm that he was truly the messiah. Jesus replied look around and see that the lame walk and people are being healed. Jesus said that John the Baptist was the greatest prophet that ever lived. And yet he is in prison and Jesus is out there and he's probably thinking I'm not so sure now. Yet he was questioning his feet and needing something of confirmation. So if, The prophet whom Jesus said was the greatest to have ever lived questioned his faith you have no need to feel like something is wrong with you.

It is OK to ask God for a sign. For something to show you that he's still in control. I want to tell you story about one of those times my life first I want to say this. There are those who will tell you that it's not appropriate to ask God for a sign. Don't listen to them. Those who know a lot ABOUT God from the Bible BUT do not know him like to USE their doctrine to put God in a box. But our God is bigger than that. He cannot be put in a box.

Yes, the scriptures give us full assurance of God's eternal promises but it is also OK to ask God to give you a sign. When the Bible says not to test the Lord your God, that is not what it is talking about. It is talking about selfish test and not desperate desires in faith to hear from God. God is moved by the faith and shameless audacity of those who long to know He is with them. We see the people of God doing this all throughout the Bible from Gideon and his fleece to Peter when he said , Lord if it is you bid me to come unto the water. In Malachi 3:10 God says Prove me and put me to the test and see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you."

When we don't feel close to God or question that He is there we can stand on the promises of scripture but it is also OK to ask God to show us He is there. There was a time in my life when I felt like my whole world is falling apart and distant from God and was losing hope and faith...
