Swift + Jetson: Robots in Minutes
Robotics setup typically takes days. Driver hell, cross-compilation, peripherals you didn't know you needed, OS flashing methods nobody documents. The team at Wendy Labs in San Francisco is fixing that with a Swift-based toolchain that treats NVIDIA Jetson and Raspberry Pi like an iPhone: plug it in over USB, push code, ship.
I went to their lab to see if it actually works. We talked through the autonomous robot dog they got following by voice command in two days, the Jetson hardware tiers (from Orin Nano up to AGX Thor running full LLMs), the Apache 2.0 open-source stack, and why Swift's C++ interop matters when you're bringing existing robotics code into a higher-level language. Also got into multi-spectral cameras, WASM on microcontrollers, and what an "app store for robots" might actually look like.
If you've ever lost a hackathon weekend to setup, this is the video.
