Liszt Annees de Pelerinage Vallee d'Obermann Horowitz Rec 1966.

Glenn Plaskin writes in his Horowitz biography regarding the pianist's 1966 fall recitals that, "the program ended with the seldom-heard Liszt Vallee d' Obermann from Annees de Pelerinage. Horowitz was especially happy about the Liszt,which he had never played before. Some of the passages,he found,did not lie well in his hand,so he had retouched it,filling in octaves,rewriting some of the cadenzas and adding reinforcements--all of which he considered justifiable within the improvisatory tradition of Liszt as long as the changes were in good taste." Music critic Harold Schonberg wrote," At the end,he not only resurrected a noble work. He had also brought an age to life."
