The 5 Film Camera Point & Shoot Comparison – Canon AF35M vs Nikon L35AF and more!

I loaded up five point and shoot film cameras from the 1980s and 1990s with rolls of Kodak Gold 200 and hit the streets for a head to head comparison. The contenders of this camera vs. camera shootout are :

• Canon Sure Shot/AF35M II
• Nikon L35AF/AD
• NIKON Lite•Touch/AF600
• Yashica Auto Focus Motor
• Ricoh R1.

Scans:
Scanning for this project was provided by the Film Preservation Project. Shown in the video are uncorrected straight scans from a Noritsu scanner. Under normal circumstances a scanner operator would have made adjustments to each images, so you'd probably see even less variation in the images. For more information on negative scanning check out: https://www.filmpreservationproject.com/

Cameras:
All five of these camera were untested thrift store finds, they had surprisingly little issues. As you can see by the images, the Yashica has got some focusing problems. Beside that, there don't seem to be any major issues. All cameras used in this video are for sale at: http://www.dcbryan.com/shop/

My takeaways:
I was surprised by how similar many of the photos were, with some adjusting in Lightroom, maybe would be indistinguishable from each other. The old saying "It's not about the camera, It's about the person behind the camera" definitely holds true here.
