Ngorongoro Crater Safari: Kinda Like Jurassic Park

If you only have time for a single day safari, Ngorongoro Crater might be the perfect place for you. Or, if you are on a multi-day safari, you'll probably be given the option to add it, and you might wonder if it's worth it.

Well, if you watch this video and see all the animals we saw in a single day, you'll know that it's totally worth it. The crater itself is remnants of an ancient volcano that collapsed on itself and left only a rim of mountains. These mountains act as a natural barrier (though the animals can indeed move in and out at their leisure) that condenses a ton of different species into one area that has roads crisscrossing all over.

It's crazy to see lions just hanging out in the grass so close to their pray, almost as if they are living in harmony. We saw a hyena chasing a group of about two hundred baboons. Water buffalo were much closer than our previous safari locations, and elephants roamed the hillside.

A real treat was seeing the Black Rhino in the distance, especially since it's such a rare animal.

Tanzania is on the rise as far as being a safari location - it is much more affordable than Botswana and Kenya, and you definitely don't want to overlook Ngorongoro crater!
