September 23rd, 2017 has come and gone. The world didn’t end. Jesus didn’t return. There was no rapture. Planet X (Nibiru) never showed up. Why not? The answers involve both astronomy and sound biblical interpretation. We’ll leave the astronomy to experts in that field. We’ll consider the biblical reasons why the September 23 prophetic date-setting was nonsense. Those reasons are actually transparent, at least if we care about paying attention to the biblical text. WHY SEPTEMBER 23, 2017 IS NOT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

Regarding the September 11th, 3 BC birth of Christ, is there going to be an alignment of the same circumstances in the future? The answer is yes, there will be. Although, there are major flaws in the methods used by people to date-set these repeated circumstances as the second coming of Christ, here’s the short answer:

• There isn’t a single verse in the NT or the Bible period that tells us we should look for the same set of astronomical circumstances that were present at the birth of the Messiah, and will be present at His second coming, zero.

• We are also never told what the sign of the Son of Man is (Matthew 24:30). We tend to assume otherwise because there is astronomical language associated with the second coming, and the one reference point we are given is the sign of the Son of Man. This does not reveal much—should be look for His same set of circumstances at birth? Is it the same set of circumstances at the crucifixion? Is it the set of circumstances at the resurrection? Maybe it has nothing to do with astronomy or is it’s something different altogether? It could be any of these options, we simply aren’t told.

What we are told is that concerning that day and hour no one knows, only God the father (Matthew 24:36), and since you can track the day and hour with astronomy, it’s probably not what we should be looking at with any certainty regarding the second coming of Christ.
