Why Doesn't America Use the Metric System?

There are only three nations on Earth who have yet to officially adopt the metric system: Liberia, Myanmar, and the United States. But the big question I have today, and it’s one that sometimes emanates from the keyboards of fellow Brits, is why doesn't America use the Metric System?
