Mandy Moore is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She made her film debut in the 2001 romantic comedy A Walk to Remember, which was based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. The film earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. She subsequently played supporting roles in the films Chasing Liberty (2004), Saved! (2004), and Because I Said So (2007). Moore later achieved mainstream success in her roles in the Disney musical films Tangled (2010) and Frozen (2013). For Tangled, she received the Saturn Award for Best Actress and for Frozen, the Annie Award for Voice Acting.

Moore has also voiced Princess Rapunzel in the Tangled franchise and starred in the NBC comedy-drama series This Is Us (2016–present), for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama.

Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, and raised in Orlando, Florida, Moore began acting in her early teens. In 1999, she signed with the now-defunct pop music label Epcot Records, and in the early 2000s, she acted in the films Dr. Dolittle 2, A Walk to Remember, and How to Deal. After signing with Epic Records, she released her debut album, So Real, in 1999. It went on to receive a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Her second studio album, I Wanna Be with You, was released in 2000, and featured the platinum-certified single "Candy". The album's title was inspired by a letter Moore wrote to her record label when she was sixteen, asking to be released from her contract because she did not feel she was being developed as an artist.

Moore's first starring role came in 2002 with the teen comedy film A Walk to Remember, in which she played a popular and rebellious teenager whose life is changed when she is forced to participate in a church youth group. The film was a commercial success, grossing over $41 million worldwide, and Moore received critical acclaim for her performance.

In 2004, Moore starred in the sports drama film Chasing Liberty, which was a commercial failure, grossing only $16 million worldwide. She subsequently appeared in the romantic comedy Saved! (2004), which received mixed reviews but was a moderate box office success, grossing $36 million worldwide.

After appearing in the romantic comedy Because I Said So (2007), Moore took a break from acting to focus on her music career. She released her third studio album, Wild Hope, in 2007, and the album's lead single, "Extraordinary", became a top thirty hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself received mixed reviews but debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, selling 96,000 copies in its first week.

In 2010, Moore voiced the lead character Rapunzel in the Disney animated film Tangled. The film was a commercial success, grossing over $591 million worldwide, and Moore received critical acclaim for her performance.

In 2013, Moore voiced Princess Anna in the Disney animated film Frozen. The film was a massive commercial success, grossing over $1.2 billion worldwide, and Moore received critical acclaim for her performance.

Moore has since starred in the independent films Cake (2014) and Southpaw (2015). In 2016, she began starring in the NBC drama series This Is Us, for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama.

Moore is also an active philanthropist, working with various charities and causes. She is a vocal advocate for LGBT rights, and has also spoken out against body shaming and eating disorders.
