A legacy like Nelson Mandela's | Zelda la Grange | TEDxFlanders

Zelda la Grange was born in apartheid South Africa. She joined President Nelson Mandela’s office in October 1994 after completing her studies. She was hand-picked in 1999 by President Mandela from his personal staff to remain in his services beyond retirement and served in various capacities over 19 years. She has received a number of awards from various organisations for her dedication and service to the late Nelson Mandela, most notably named a Frederik van Zyl Slabbert fellow as well as a Paul Harris fellow, the highest honour bestowed on individuals by Rotary International.

She works for several charitable organisations and continues to contribute to social cohesion. She currently serves as the Patron for the First for Women Foundation, non-executive Director for the non profit organisation Healing Hands and annually acts as a coordinator of Bikers for Mandela Day through which she pays tribute and disseminates the lessons learnt from her former boss in a charitable way. She has been speaking internationally since 2010 and continues to inspire people through sharing her life experiences. In 2014, she published her memoirs in the international best seller Good Morning, Mr Mandela. Zelda is a weekly co-host on a National TV talk show in South Africa and is currently co-producing a documentary on the people and places that shaped Nelson Mandela.
