STRETCHERS | What KIT Mountain RESCUE use to transfer the casualty | FIRST AID
Mountain Rescue UK teams use different styles of stretchers as part of their main search and rescue equipment store. The style of stretcher operated by the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, in the Peak District is the Bell Tangent Stretcher.
This stretcher has many uses, from transporting the casualty after first aid has been administered to an awaiting ambulance, to crag rescues, and helicopter lifts into the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter.
In this video Andy, from Buxton Mountain Rescue Team gives an overview of the Bell Tangent Stretcher.
The Stretcher can be also be used to carry a casualty on foot where it can be fitted with a wheel.
The Bell Tangent stretcher was designed by Peter Bell in 1972. Peter was a member of the Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team and designed a stretcher that met the needs of their team. It became popular with other UK Mountain Rescue teams and has stood the test of time and is still in use with many teams today.
The stretcher is maintained and serviced for us by Lyon Equipment.
