Turning an Oak Bowl from a Hurricane Helene Victim

The US was rocked in the spring of 2025 by several natural disasters, flooding, fires, a couple of earthquakes, and by a little storm we called Helene. It was an unusual storm is that the bulk of the damage happened in northern Georga, eastern Tennessee, and western North Carolina. You may well remember the news reports of the damage in TN and NC more than any other areas. A friend of mine knew someone who lived in western NC. This nan has several trees down, so my friend went to help this man clean up the many trees that were laying on the ground. In his wisdom, my friend picked up many of the blocks of wood that they cut and took them home for processing and selling to turners with the idea that all proceeds would be sent back to help western NC in the aftermath of this horrific storm. This piece being turned in this video is the second of the 2 pieces I bought. Let's see what this piece of oak will yield as we try to turn something that will be appealing. BTW, this piece will be for sale with the proceeds going back to western NC for Hurricane Helene Relief. I'll announce how the sale will work during the video.
