New UN force aims to break gang-war siege in Haiti

The United Nations is taking the fight to Haiti’s gangs with its Gang Suppression Force, a multinational military and police mission tasked with quelling criminal violence on the Caribbean island.

Canada is one of the countries funding the efforts, pledging $40 million to strengthen the UN's mission. The CBC’s Paul Hunter was invited to join UN Secretary General António Guterres on a visit to a Haitian community where the forces will patrol.
